What the repair work can include
  • Equipment-assisted drying where appropriate.
  • Mould remediation associated with the damage.
  • Repair or replacement of affected wall and ceiling linings.
  • Selected shower-lining, wall and ceiling repairs, preparation and repainting. Floor and subfloor repairs are excluded.
  • Restoration of damaged interior trim and finishes.
  • Surface preparation and repainting.

We flag the moisture source and discuss selected wall, ceiling, shower-lining or finishing repairs around the actual condition of the property. You arrange plumbing, electrical, fan or extraction specialists directly. Floor and subfloor repairs are excluded.

How the repair work is planned
  1. Establish the history. Discuss the water source, any repairs already completed and the areas affected.
  2. Define the work. We consider material condition, drying and further investigation before quoting suitable repairs.
  3. Agree the sequence. Agree access and insurer requirements with the client. The client arranges separate specialist trades directly before our affected repair work begins.
  4. Repair and finish. The agreed areas are restored in stages, with additional findings discussed before the scope grows.

This is a planned repair service. An enquiry does not arrange emergency attendance.

Repairing damage after a plumbing leak

A leak can damage the surrounding wall or shower lining. The client arranges a plumber to resolve the leak. Once the source and drying needs have been addressed, we can discuss selected lining repairs, preparation and repainting. Plumbing work and floor or subfloor repairs are not offered by Healthy & Dry.

FAQ - Questions about this service

Understanding the damage

What needs checking before damaged surfaces are repaired?

Check the moisture source and the condition of the affected materials before repairs.

Water can leave a ceiling stained, trim swollen or a wall lining damaged. The visible mark is a starting point for discussion; the condition of the material and whether moisture is still entering affect the repair.

Tell us when the damage appeared and whether the source has been found or repaired. During a free quotation visit we discuss visible findings and suitable next steps. If the cause or extent remains uncertain, we explain what further investigation may be needed.

An active plumbing leak needs a plumber to repair the source. Drying and reinstatement are planned around that repair and the condition of the affected materials.

We explain the visible findings, the proposed repairs and anything that needs further investigation. Additional opening-up work or specialist testing is priced and agreed with you first.

The leak has stopped, but the ceiling still looks damaged - What comes next?

We consider the lining condition and any remaining moisture before agreeing repairs and repainting. Tell us how the leak was addressed and whether there are any continuing signs of dampness.

What should I know about mould after flooding?

Our flood guidance explains mould warning signs, protective equipment and safe drying, with links to Health New Zealand's detailed advice.

Drying, repairs and finishing

Is drying included automatically?

No. Drying is considered as part of the repair scope where needed. The approach depends on the affected materials and conditions; the quotation identifies the work being offered.

Can you repair damage outside the bathroom?

Yes. Suitable interior repairs can include bedrooms, living areas, laundries and other affected rooms, with the actual surfaces and extent agreed in the quote.

How can drying or concealed damage affect the repairs and timing?

The repair sequence depends on which materials can be retained and which need replacement. Drying and preparation are planned before finishing; a room that looks better on the surface may still need underlying damage addressed.

Opening an affected area can reveal work that was not visible at the first visit. We discuss those findings, any additional price and the effect on timing before extending the job.

Concealed damage, drying needs, materials and other trades can affect the sequence. We discuss changes with you when they become apparent.

Quotations and insurance

What can you provide for my insurance claim?

We provide free written quotations for suitable, defined repair work that you can share with your insurer. Have any existing repair scope, assessor findings or related photographs available when discussing the job.

A standalone mould investigation and written assessment report is a separate paid service. There is no obligation to accept a repair quotation. Your insurer determines its evidence requirements and whether damage is covered. We agree the repair work and any required approvals before starting.

What should I have ready for the quotation visit?

Describe the affected rooms, known leak history and any work already carried out. Tell us whether the property is occupied and if a bathroom, bedroom or access route will be affected by the repairs. This helps us discuss protection, sequencing and room use alongside the quotation.

Have any insurer or assessor scope, photographs and information about repairs already undertaken available. These help establish which work you want quoted.
